The Memoir · Pre-order August 8
Proof the loop can break.
In 2016 I woke up in a psychiatric hospital unable to remember my own name.
A memoir by Carrie Davidson, BSPH, BSN, RN
About the book
A story about the loop, and the way out.
The woman who signed the admission paperwork called herself Grace. She was not pretending.
Addicted to Trauma is the story of how a woman loses herself one small leaving at a time, and what it takes to find her way back.
It is not a memoir about rock bottom. It is about the floors beneath the floor you thought was the bottom, and the work of building something that holds. That work took me years to understand and it eventually became the Conscious Creation Method, the framework I now teach.
For anyone who has ever mistaken chaos for love, busyness for healing, or someone else’s needs for their own. This book was written for you.
An excerpt
“The hallways were so white. That is what I remember most. The walls, the ceiling, the floor, the doors. White in a way that meant I was not in the world I came from anymore.”
I had been not-quite-Carrie for a very long time before I became Grace. This is the story of how that happened.

Common questions
What readers ask
What is Addicted to Trauma about?
Addicted to Trauma is Carrie Davidson’s memoir about trauma and addiction as one wound telling itself in two languages. It is the story of how she lost herself one small leaving at a time, became the patient in the white hallway, and found her way back. It is available for pre-order August 8, 2026.
When does Addicted to Trauma release?
Addicted to Trauma is available for pre-order August 8, 2026. Pre-ordering is the single most helpful thing a reader can do for a first book. Joining the waitlist gets you the release news, the pre-order link the day it exists, and the full first chapter.
Is Addicted to Trauma about addiction or trauma?
Both, because they are not separate problems. Trauma comes first and addiction is its result: the same wound telling itself in two different languages. The book traces that loop from the inside, without asking readers to choose which story counts.
Where can I buy Addicted to Trauma?
Pre-order links go live on carriepdavidson.com/book the moment they arrive from the publisher. Until then, readers can join the waitlist to receive the link the day it exists. The memoir will be available in print and ebook.
